Jumping into the unknown

Here I am – Grooming Studio Co launched officially this past Friday, and I couldn’t be more proud and excited, and a little (lot) nervous.

Anytime we go for the something with really, let’s call it ‘uninsured results’, we can get nervous. Scared. Right? Because the known, the insured is “safe”. We know what to expect. We know or have a pretty good idea at what the result should be. But put us in a position to take the path with an unknown result, or the possibility we could fail, and well… it can be shaky.

I left the job I held for five years to jump on a dream to make my life better. To pursue a vision of a life where I make the decisions, I lead how logistics and day to day life can be accomplished for my children. Rather than the mad scramble of balancing the one in a million single parenthood challenges of do I have enough leave time to take them to the doctor let alone get a mammogram for myself done. I left security for sanity. I left so I could take back my life and call the cards instead of being dealt the cards. Grooming Studio Co is the card I’m calling. It is my sanity.

And, when we finally jump into the reward, we are going to hit bumps. Mind you we don’t “fail” because we haven’t given up. But, well.. we find lessons to do better next time. We dust ourselves off for the next lessons and the next.

“Well, Dana Lynn, what if I fail”.

You don’t know. Still jump.

Because if you don’t, you will always wonder “what if”. If you do? Even if you fail, you at least bet on yourself.

Lessons that I’ve learned this week:

  1. Figure out a way to cut the noise from other vendor’s booths when doing an indoor booth.
  2. Is there a way to create a more hands on experience for potential customers?
  3. There’s more….

If you have time look up Steve Harvey’s talk on Jump! You won’t regret it – he talks about not waiting to pursue your dream – whatever it is. So, what is your dream? Is there a hobby you’ve been wanting to start? A trip you want to go on? Tell me about it!
